4 Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols.
5 O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.
– Psalm 40:4-5
These days are tough. There is not much margin – for anything. Food and supplies are short. Job’s are diminishing. Money is dwindling. Patience is razor thin. Faith, Hope, Love and Grace are all fading.
Time is in good supply. Time to fret. Time to fear. Time to desire and sin. Time for shame, sadness and despair.
But Lord, you are still there for us. You have promised us that you are – So many times, Lord. You said that we should not fear, but sometimes Lord, everything going on crowds you out. It’s hard to hear you my loving and faithful father. It’s hard.
11 Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me. Let your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me.
12 For troubles surround me— too many to count! My sins pile up so high I can’t see my way out. They outnumber the hairs on my head. I have lost all courage.
13 Please, Lord, rescue me! Come quickly, Lord, and help me.
– Psalm 40:11-13
I am looking, Lord. I have found you in places I did not expect! The sun is shining, Lord. The air is warm and the birds are singing. Raindrops hit the window, Lord. Your promise was a rainbow. I wonder if you will remind me of that today when I really need it?
16 But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “The Lord is great!”
17 As for me, since I am poor and needy, let the Lord keep me in his thoughts. You are my helper and my savior. O my God, do not delay.
– Psalm 40:16-17
Thank you Lord. You’re so good to me. I have so many reasons to sing.
I am blessed, I am called
I am healed, I am whole
I am saved in Jesus’ name
Highly favored, anointed
Filled with Your power
For the glory of Jesus’ name
And should this life
Bring suffering
Lord, I will remember
What Calvary has bought for me
Both now and forever
God you’re so good.
God you’re so good.
God you’re so good.
You’re so good to me.
